hermoso + hondo con Marielys

Como parte del proceso expuesto “The Sky Beneath My Feet”, Marielys Lely Burgos diseñó y armó cuidadosamente una instalación llamada “Remembrance”. Y me invitó a crear una especie de collar gigante hecho de papel, para bordear su cuerpo, donde escribí un fragmento de un poema suyo. Marielys presentó su instalación por primera vez en la serie de performances “Food for Thought”, curada por iele paloumpis, en Danspace Project. Ahora comparte espacio*energía con las increíbles obras que se exhiben en el Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, bajo el título “Give me Body! Femme Re-Divined”, exhibición colectiva que comenzó el 8 de marzo, Día Internacional de la Mujer, y se extiende hasta el 16 de abril. De más está decir que ayudarla con el montaje ha sido hermoso + hondo. ¡Véanla!

As part of the exposed process “The Sky Beneath my Feet”,  Marielys Lely Burgos carefully designed and assembled an installation named “Remembrance”. She also invited me to create (what looks to me like) a gigantic paper neckless, to surround her body, where I hand-wrote a fragment of one of her poems. Marielys first presented this installation at the performance series “Food for Thought”, curated by iele paloumpis, at Danspace Project. Now it shares space*energy with the incredible artworks shown at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, under the title “Give me Body! Femme Re-Divined”, a collective exhibit that began yesterday, International Women’s Day, and runs until April 16. Needless to say, helping her with the set-up has been beautiful + deep.
