PASSAGES: A COLLECTIVE ART EXHIBITION

For Immediate Release: 

Bronx, New York – Just in time for the Hispanic Heritage Month, 20 artists will explore the human condition at its raw state and how art is the passage to a different Hispanic experience. These art pieces will delve into the things to which the human gravitates or holds on to when emotionally charged (religion, politics or social interactions, nostalgia, lust, passion, writing, music, dance). The invited artists are: Josué Guarionex, Tanya Torres, José Pagán Ortíz, George Zavala, Yarisa Colón, Aydasara Ortega, Carolina Bermúdez, Yolanda Luz Rodríguez, Giannina Gutierrez, William Bass, José Rivera, Justo Carreras, Roberto Silva, Rubén Rivera, Norka Pérez, Hiram Melendez, Yehimar Abyisis, Michelle Ortíz, Yunior Chuiqui Mendoza and Fanny Montero.   

This exhibition, curated by Yolanda L. Rodríguez and Artistic Director Josue Guarionex Colon, will integrate the works of artists utilizing a variety of mediums and performance arts, and includes numerous cultural events and art workshops for the community. Some of the happenings include: The Ghetto Brothers, Bomba Yo, Workshops by  Tanya Torres, Carolina Bermúdez, Aydasara Ortega, Yarisa Colón, among others; presentation by Nilka Martel (Founder of G.I.V.E. Getting Involved, Virginia Ave. Efforts); Poetry Night with Myrna Nieves, Jesús Papoleto Melendez, among others,  Música Latinoamericana with Los Chamanes music group, Artist Marqueta in collaboration with the Puerto Rican Institute for the Development of the Arts (PRIDA), Live Art event in collaboration with YUCA Arts Project, Artist Q & A,  Short Film presentations, Dance Performers, DJs and Live Music.  

The following are dates and times for all the amazing free events:
1. September 25th- 9 am- Live Art  by 4 young Latina artists; members of YUCA Arts Program          
2. September 26th- 5:30-9pm- Opening Reception
3. September 27th- 6:30-9pm-Artist Q & A and Films by David C. Díaz and José Quique Rivera
4. September 28th- 10am-4pm- Artists Marqueta and Family Cultural event in collaboration with Bomba Yo and PRIDA
5. October 3rd-6:30-9pm-  Música Latinoamericana con Los Chamanes 
6.  October 4th- 6:30-9pm- Poetry Night with Local Writers (Book presentations by Jesús Papoleto Meléndez and Myrna Nieves.  Also poetry readings by Yolanda Rodriguez, Corazón, Norka, Tanya Torres and Yarisa Colón, among others)
7. October 5th - 10 am to 4pm- Community Free Art Workshops by some of the artists in the exhibition, and at 7pm- Concert by The Ghetto Brothers (opening by Jazz band and Poets from El Grito de Poetas)
